Fathers Day Sayings

He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.

My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, "You're tearing up the grass." "We're not raising grass," Dad would reply. "We're raising boys."

One father is more than a hundred Schoolemasters.

Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope.

Father! - to God himself we cannot give a holier name.

Henry James once defined life as that predicament which precedes death, and certainly nobody owes you a debt of honor or gratitude for getting him into that predicament. But a child does owe his father a debt, if Dad, having gotten him into this peck of trouble, takes off his coat and buckles down to the job of showing his son how best to crash through it.

A father is always making his baby into a little woman. And when she is a woman he turns her back again.

Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father!

It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons.

A father carries pictures where his money used to be.

When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.

Dad, you're someone to look up to no matter how tall I've grown.

Old as she was, she still missed her daddy sometimes.

There's something like a line of gold thread running through a man's words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself.

It kills you to see them grow up. But I guess it would kill you quicker if they didn't.

It would seem that something which means poverty, disorder and violence every single day should be avoided entirely, but the desire to beget children is a natural urge.

Are we not like two volumes of one book?

The greatest gift I ever had
Came from God; I call him Dad!

Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.

Never raise your hand to your kids. It leaves your groin unprotected.

I don't care how poor a man is; if he has family, he's rich.

Dad, your guiding hand on my shoulder will remain with me forever.

There's one sad truth in life I've found
While journeying east and west -
The only folks we really wound
Are those we love the best.
We flatter those we scarcely know,
We please the fleeting guest,
And deal full many a thoughtless blow
To those who love us best.

Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away.

Sherman made the terrible discovery that men make about their fathers sooner or later... that the man before him was not an aging father but a boy, a boy much like himself, a boy who grew up and had a child of his own and, as best he could, out of a sense of duty and, perhaps love, adopted a role called Being a Father so that his child would have something mythical and infinitely important: a Protector, who would keep a lid on all the chaotic and catastrophic possibilities of life.

Spread the diaper in the position of the diamond with you at bat. Then fold second base down to home and set the baby on the pitcher's mound. Put first base and third together, bring up home plate and pin the three together. Of course, in case of rain, you gotta call the game and start all over again.

Mothers Day Sayings

here is my best mothers day sayings collections, hope you like it.

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.

Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
Hundreds of bees in the purple clover,
Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn,
But only one mother the wide world over.

Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs... since the payment is pure love.

The sweetest sounds to mortals given
Are heard in Mother, Home, and Heaven.

If you have a mom, there is nowhere you are likely to go where a prayer has not already been.

A suburban mother's role is to deliver children obstetrically once, and by car forever after.

If the whole world were put into one scale, and my mother in the other, the whole world would kick the beam.

Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.

All mothers are working mothers.

When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.

Mother love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible.

Mother - that was the bank where we deposited all our hurts and worries.

A mother is a mother still,
The holiest thing alive.

The real religion of the world comes from women much more than from men - from mothers most of all, who carry the key of our souls in their bosoms.

God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers.

A mother understands what a child does not say.

I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.

It would seem that something which means poverty, disorder and violence every single day should be avoided entirely, but the desire to beget children is a natural urge.

Woman in the home has not yet lost her dignity, in spite of Mother's Day, with its offensive implication that our love needs an annual nudging, like our enthusiasm for the battle of Bunker Hill.Erskine

Women's Liberation is just a lot of foolishness. It's the men who are discriminated against. They can't bear children. And no one's likely to do anything about that.

A man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest.

Before I got married I had six theories about bringing up children; now I have six children, and no theories.

You don't really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around - and why his parents will always wave back.

Now that... my kids are grown, I understand how much work and love it takes to raise and to keep a family together. The example of your strength, devotion, and patience is now rippling through the generations. Thank you!

Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.

Motherhood is priced
Of God, at price no man may dare
To lessen or misunderstand.

Are we not like two volumes of one book?

It kills you to see them grow up. But I guess it would kill you quicker if they didn't.

Who fed me from her gentle breast
And hushed me in her arms to rest,
And on my cheek sweet kisses prest?
My Mother.

Who ran to help me when I fell,
And would some pretty story tell,
Or kiss the place to make it well?
My mother.

On Mother's Day I have written a poem for you. In the interest of poetic economy and truth, I have succeeded in concentrating my deepest feelings and beliefs into two perfectly crafted lines: You're my mother, I would have no other!

Children are a great comfort in your old age - and they help you reach it faster, too.

Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children.

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.

This heart, my own dear mother, bends,
With love's true instinct, back to thee!

Insanity is hereditary; you get it from your children.

The one thing children wear out faster than shoes is parents.

Most mothers are instinctive philosophers.

Before a day was over,
Home comes the rover,
For mother's kiss - sweeter this
Than any other thing!

I don't care how poor a man is; if he has family, he's rich.

Where we love is home - home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts.

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.

If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden.

A Freudian slip is when you say one thing but mean your mother.

Sweater, n.: garment worn by child when its mother is feeling chilly.

All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his.

Mothers are fonder than fathers of their children because they are more certain they are their own.

A man's work is from sun to sun, but a mother's work is never done.

Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.

Parents often talk about the younger generation as if they didn't have anything to do with it.

Sing out loud in the car even, or especially, if it embarrasses your children.

Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children.

There is only one pretty child in the world, and every mother has it.

Never raise your hand to your kids. It leaves your groin unprotected.

If nature had arranged that husbands and wives should have children alternatively, there would never be more than three in a family.

Setting a good example for your children takes all the fun out of middle age.

Your responsibility as a parent is not as great as you might imagine. You need not supply the world with the next conqueror of disease or major motion-picture star. If your child simply grows up to be someone who does not use the word "collectible" as a noun, you can consider yourself an unqualified success.
